Thanks for being so patient. I cannot find Dawn detergent here but I've gotten a paste dish detergent that says that it takes off oil. The brand of foil that I am using is Masterfoil. Some of it is old but the backing is stuck to it quite well making me feel that it has not diminished in quality. I finally bought a burnishing tool from which I got the contact info for this website and messageboard. I had thought that burnishing over-zealously might create too much heat and therefore weaken the glue. As for temperature where I store things, it is always hot here but seems cool in the mornings in the low 70's then up to the 90's in the day--I would guess that is not too great a temperature swing. Should you just do one pass over the foil with the iron? Or is there some leeway of time if the solder skips?
