Here I am again because although it seemed to work better, there is still a problem. I am still having problems with the copper foil loosening after I've completed the project. I am cleaning well, I believe. I can't get pure ammonia but I'm using a paste dish detergent that says it takes grease off so I'm thinking that should be strong enough. Then I wipe with alcohol. Then I burnish like a devil--rubbing until I can't feel any raised edges. It always seems to come off (because I am foiling flattened beer bottles) along the two sides of the neck. Once I finish soldering I have to manipulate it because I am wiring it as a lantern and so it loosens even more. It looks okay but it is unglued and I don't understand why. It stays on the bottom and top of the bottles which doesn't make a lot of sense since the bottom of the bottle has a textured edge and the top has a groove where the opening flattened. The sides of the neck are smooth and I've been told that foil sticks better to smooth glass than to ground glass. So I am still puzzled as to why it comes unglued. This last time I put solder on all the pieces before I put them together but on the sides of the neck it seems that almost as soon as I touch the soldering iron to the neck the edges begin to curl. I guess I need more help, practice, and/or suggestions.
