It's been that way for a few days. Dunno.
I'm having Server problems confounded by IDIOTS who sit with computers in their faces and don't use them for interdepartmental communication. Yes, there's tiny smidgen of Mea-culpa involved. I've been on the phone with them since Thursday. Every time I call it's a different parson and it's necessary to go through the whole story, from the beginning...again. Each fool sets up a NEW Job "ticket". That's caused them to start and stop over and over again. Each new start is another "48 hours" to complete. It's about 130 hours now and they're still farting around.
Couldn't get to TECH directly because I had never set up a password and security queston...never needed one because Webbie handles the technical stuff. Billing (who did most of the damage) wouldn't let me do that until the site was up. Catch 22...you run around in circles. .There was a real danger that they would delete all the files in the quagmire of non-communication. FINALLY, I got a Billing rep with a BRAIN yesterday who set up the user name, security question and password for me. NOW I could get directly to Tech.by phone and to the support website. Tech phone receptionists weren't much sharper. I wound up with 3 active Job Tickets. Managed, with a lot of bitching to get them combined and down to ONE by today. I stopped counting the phone calls I made at around #15.
This morning, the SF Main Website was UP...everything still there, including the Manuals, Galleries all the Forums /messages. The Forums appeared briefly...just long enough for me to post a short message on Discussion...and they disappeared again. I'm no longer a total nervous wreck since I know they will return intact. Because I can now get into the support site, I can see and read the Job Ticket progress that's updated hourly. They're working to transition the Website to a new "platform" whatever the heck THAT is and just beg for patience.
I ran out of patience about the middle of last Saturday (this has been going on since Thursday). It's out of my control aside from the "minor" prodding and bitching which I KNOW from dealing with an army of Geeks in my life, does no good. Makes me feel better. SF has never been down for more than a couple of hours in all the years it's existed. No, it won't save the world, but commitment to anything is important to me. I miss my Peeps...miss the discussions...it's like a house with no lights.
Damn...I need DRUGS! Everybody else in this post Katrina world is on them...but nooooo...not me.
I'll post a message with full disclosure when the Forums are stable. Some of it will be a repetition of this message....and some of what I've told a few people in mail . Got E-mail from the Server "education" dept asking or a review and critique of my experience. Oh MY...they might be sorry they did that. Hahaha!
