I'm sorry, Church-mouse, I didn't see your post until now. It should be on the other board. This one was set up for problems with using the board.
I have made lots of whirls. Be sure you put a good, thick edge-bead on all of the rings and all of the pieces for the inside. Make the jig to get the spacing of the rings the same. Put the rings together and put all of the pieces inside. Solder each piece at least three places. Solder to rings and other inner pieces. Then everything holds everything else together. If you need more help, ask again and maybe I can think of another way of explaining it.
